A UNIVERSITY AND GRADUATE PROGRAM WITH A COMMITMENT
TO STUDENTS:
- UW consistently in top rankings of number
of PhD graduates and has many students, 1/4-1/3 of whom
are graduate or professional students (a remarkably high
proportion especially for a public university). There is
a strong focus on graduate students: their training, their
research, their development as scientific colleagues, and
their career development.
- MDTP exists because of graduate students,
and functions only with the active participation and contribution
of graduate students as well as faculty and staff.

- Weekly student seminar series in which
you and your colleagues present your own research findings,
and a student, postdoc, or faculty member can keep abreast
of work in her/his own research area, learn about other
research areas, and recognize important features (information,
approaches, techniques) shared among different areas.
- Outside seminar speakers chosen, invited,
and hosted by graduate students.
