The Department of Biology at Georgetown University invites applications for a position as a Teaching Assistant Professor. We seek a science educator to actively collaborate with current faculty in the delivery and administration of our undergraduate curriculum. Teaching responsibilities will include courses for majors and non-majors in such areas as genetics, molecular biology, cellular biology, development, and/or biochemistry. Duties will also include teaching in our yearlong introductory biology sequence. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biology or related field, teaching experience, enthusiasm for science education, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in undergraduate science education. We are committed to expanding access to a quality education in biology for a more diverse and inclusive population of students. Non-tenure-line teaching positions are nine-month appointments in which effort is devoted primarily to instruction, but departmental service and professional development are also expected.

Qualifications
Applicants should submit:

  • a brief cover letter summarizing their qualifications
  • a curriculum vitae
  • a teaching dossier of no more than 10 pages to include
    • a philosophy of teaching statement
    • a diversity statement describing how diversity figures into their professional experience and how attention to diversity would be included in their teaching and mentoring
    • (optional) exemplar activities or assessments and/or teaching evaluations
  • names and contact information of three references
