FUNCTION STATEMENT: participates in a research team studying production of biofuels and biobased chemicals from agricultural and
municipal wastes. Research emphasis is on optimization of reaction processes (metabolic, modelling and downstream processing); prepares
manuscripts for publication; assists with the preparation of grant proposals; participates in the supervision of graduate students; position
located at Wooster, Ohio.
EXPERIENCE: experience in fermentation and metabolic engineering of bacteria and/or yeast desired; in accordance with the Disaster
Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17 this position has been designated as a standby position.
DUTIES DESCRIPTION:
90% plans and conducts experiments; fermentations, exploits solventogenic Clostridium species, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and related
microorganism’s genome information to enhance production of bio-based fuels and chemicals; assists in extramural grant proposal, posters,
and manuscripts preparations.
10% assists with the supervision of research students; assists with maintenance of good laboratory practice by all laboratory members;
prepares and presents research findings at scientific meetings.
