The UAB IRACDA-MERIT (Mentored Experiences in Research, Instruction, and Teaching) Program is a fully funded, four-year postdoctoral training program that aims to enhance and support your growth as a researcher, strengthen your teaching and leadership skills, and promote your career development.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is a large and collaborative biomedical research community that strikes a perfect balance between innovative research capabilities and excellent quality of life for members of the community.
UAB MERIT is seeking individuals who are interested in outstanding teaching and research experiences during their postdoctoral training. The MERIT Program will provide opportunities for research experience at UAB and teaching experiences at institutions that serve traditionally under-represented groups, including HBCUs, located near UAB.
IRACDA-MERIT Scholars are supported for four years at NIH-NRSA stipend levels; are provided health insurance at no charge and allowance for travel and supplies. UAB MERIT is funded through an Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Award (IRACDA, K12) from NIH/NIGMS.
Applicants to the IRACDA-MERIT Program must be Ph.D. candidates or recent Ph.D. recipients (with the past year) and a US citizen or non-citizen national; individuals with comparable degrees, include MD and DVM, are also eligible. Women and persons from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, individuals with disabilities, and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
