Postdoc opportunity in Bowen Lab at Northeastern University

We are seeking a postdoctoral scientist to join the Bowen Lab in the Department of Marine and Environmental Science at Northeastern University. This Simons Foundation funded project focuses on understanding the role that hydrology plays in structuring microbial communities and their associated ecosystem function with an emphasis on the role that microbes play in carbon cycling process and carbon storage.  Much of our effort will be in metagenomic and metatranscriptomic analysis of microbial communities, with an emphasis on microbial interactions that promote the decomposition or stabilization of carbon in coastal wetlands. The project involves a dynamic team of biogeochemists, hydrologists, plant physiologists, and ecosystem ecologists, including a cohort of postdocs, graduate students, and technicians working on different elements of the project. The work will take place at field sites in the Plum Island Ecosystem Long-Term Ecological Research site and will be based at Northeastern’s Marine Science Center in Nahant, MA, though partial remote work is possible.
