Microbiology teaching position at Western Illinois University

The Department of Biological Sciences at Western Illinois University in Macomb has a faculty position for a broadly trained Microbiologist/Virologist who is currently enrolled and close to finishing their Ph.D. or just completed their doctoral program. Postdoctoral scholars are also encouraged to apply. This person would be expected to teach courses such as Introductory Microbiology, Virology, Immunology, Pathogenic Bacteriology and/or Medical Mycology based on the person’s area of expertise, continue to conduct research, and contribute to the University community.
The appointed person will be a C.T. Vivian Teaching Scholar. This program, initiated to honor the late civil rights leader and WIU alumnus Dr. C.T. Vivian, is designed to provide professional teaching experiences, mentoring and training, and potential tenure-track employment opportunities at Western Illinois University. Candidates for this program must be a member of a diverse cultural or ethnic group that is typically underrepresented among U.S. higher education faculty. We particularly encourage applications from individuals who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) or Latinx.
