MDTP students have been highly successful in securing fellowships from outside funding agencies. Some fellowship resources for students include:
- Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI)
- National Science Foundation (NSF)
- National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- National Academies of Science (NAS)
- IRIS Grants Database
- UW-Madison Fellowship Resources
In addition, there are internal fellowships available to students at UW. For example, students with appointments in Bacteriology may qualify for Wisconsin Distinguished Graduate Fellowships. Students from underrepresented groups may be nominated for fellowship support from SciMed Graduate Research Scholars.
Students should browse this External Fellowships Database available for graduate students campus-wide. Students interested in pursuing NSF Graduate Research Fellowships should utilize resources compiled by the graduate school.
Students should talk to their faculty advisors about which fellowships are most appropriate. Examples of successful fellowship materials are available from the MDTP Coordinator.
Training grants may have funding available to support MDTP students. Please visit the UW Training Grant site for a comprehensive list of current training grants and their campus administrators. Students should talk to their faculty advisors regarding training grant opportunities.
